Karaoke on the Kazakh steppes with Tim Arlott

Tim Arlott is one of Reuters’ greats; that 44-year run will tell you that.

I never worked professionally with Tim, but sharing a karaoke mic on a stage one late evening during an Almaty conference was a treasure. We got a standing O from the vodka-enhanced crowd, though I expected the Rolling Stones to be found dead the next morning in mortification.
