The “new” initiative once again looks good, on paper, probably as good as ever [Thomson Reuters executives set managers a new goal]. The initiative is supposed to turn the management culture upside down, just by providing a simple and efficient bullet list, and the list looks good. But what we observe in real life, year after year, the management culture at Thomson Reuters successfully overturns the initiative, bullet by bullet. In managerial speak this is usually called “an opportunity” - for the next year. It is really good to have that short bullet list for what Thomson Reuters managers are not. ■
