Reg had the most wonderful personality that won everyone over in minutes - no wonder the UK press barons never had a chance. He was always the star of the European media meetings and he took no prisoners when he thought policy was wrong. When Reg spoke, everyone listened - for he was usually bang on target and he did it with such passion. Reg belonged to that old school that understood the jewel in Reuters’ crown was its news coverage. No matter the criticisms from clients voiced to try and keep prices down, Reg knew full well the value of Reuters news and he negotiated accordingly. Indeed, one of the problems those who dealt 100% with our news products had with senior management was making them understand the real true value of Reuters news - not just to the media clients but that it wasn't something that should just be given away or charged as a token to financial clients.
