Andrew Winning exhibition launches fund to help young photographers
Monday 2 March 2026
A London exhibition of the work of the late Reuters photographer Andrew Winning has been extended for an extra week because of its popularity.
The exhibition, in Brixton south London, marks the launch of the Winning Fund which will foster talent among emerging young photographers, including those from disadvantaged areas, by giving them access to Andrew’s professional cameras.
It is a partnership between his family and Photofusion, a charity based in Brixton which has supported photographers for more than 30 years.
The exhibition of Winning’s photos was originally due to run for one week but has been extended until March 6.
“By giving emerging photographers from underrepresented London communities access to high-quality kit, we are keeping Andrew’s love for photography alive and supporting new talent to continue his legacy of capturing pivotal moments in history,” the fund and Photofusion said in a press release.
Winning worked for Reuters for 22 years, covering every type of major news and sports story including natural disasters, the Olympics and football World Cups.
He had to leave in 2018 because of budget cuts but quickly moved to Getty Images as News Editor for Europe Middle East and Africa.
Less than three months into the new job he was diagnosed with a brain tumour and died in 2020 at the age of 49.
