Former Rome colleagues meet in Potsdam

Four decades after they worked together in Reuters’ Rome bureau, Annette von Broecker and Brian Mooney met up again in Potsdam when Brian and his wife Gail were on a recent visit to Berlin.

Delving back into the past, they made a joint tour of Potsdam, now Annette’s home town, which included the ‘Bridge of Spies’, where she got her first scoop for Reuters on the release of the U-2 CIA airman Gary Powers, the Cecilienhof Palace where the 1945 Potsdam Agreements were negotiated, and the former KGB prison.
